About Kircubbin Sailing Club

Kircubbin Sailing Club is found on the eastern shore of Strangford Lough, approximately 11 miles south of Newtownards along the Portaferry Road.  It is situated at the north side of the scenic village of Kircubbin and offers stunning views of the lough and surrounding area, looking out across Monaghan Bay. Kircubbin Sailing Club has been active on the sailing scene in Strangford Lough since the early 1900s and has its roots in competitive sailing. In the early days of the Club, Kircubbins sailors were among the best in Strangford Lough, with the club being known for its competitive Flying Fifteen fleet and its active role in the local community. It was formally established in 1954, taking over a stone-built clubhouse and oar-house that were once part of the Allen family's property. Although as the name suggests, the promotion of sailing is the main objective of the club, we welcome other types of craft as well. If you cast your eye around the Bay during the summer you will see motor cruisers, speed boats, fishing boats and cabin/day boats as well as sailing boats.
