Lymington sits on the Solent at the mouth of the Lymington River. The town has three sailing clubs: a large yacht club running racing, cruising and RYA training, a general sailing club with its own dinghy and yacht sections, and a junior club run by children for children. Royal Lymington Yacht Club, founded in 1912, is the largest of the three.
The Solent, the stretch of water between the Hampshire coast and the Isle of Wight, gives Lymington sailors direct access to some of the busiest racing water in the UK. The Lymington River, tidal and lined with moorings, connects the town to the Solent.

Based at Eight Acre Pond, a sheltered former saltpan, and run by its own child members under adult supervision. Open to any family with a child aged 15 or under, with no sailing experience required to join.
