University of the West of England Sailing Club

UWE Sailing is a fun and friendly club catering to beginners and advanced sailors. All abilities are welcome whether you have never set foot on a boat before or were born at sea. We offer weekly social sailing, team and yacht racing training and theory sessions. We sail at South Cerney Sailing Club in the beautiful Cotswold Water Park and have access to a wide range of boats including our lovely fleet of fireflies. We sail Wednesdays and Saturdays but this can vary depending on the weather and member interest. We also have the opportunity to race a variety of boats in Cardiff. Ranging from Hunter 707's to a selection of larger keelboats. This is the first year we are offering yacht and match racing and we'd love for you to be a part of it! We compete in the BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) hosted fleet and team racing events against other universities nationwide. These are an excellent opportunity to meet other sailors and explore new cities. We love to get everyone involved in these events, whether you have raced before or not. Each year we run a trip abroad, where we enjoy an island-hopping, party-filled week, all whilst living on yachts! We have many socials planned throughout the year, including nights out in the city centre, pub socials and BBQ's. We also host a number of sober socials such as mini golf and many others! These are great fun and an excellent way to get to know other club members.
