About Tamar River Sailing Club

Welcome to the Tamar River Sailing Club website. We are an active and enthusiastic club on the East bank or the Tamar just South of the Tamar Bridge. We have lively and well supported yacht, dinghy and cadet sections with yachts racing on Monday evenings in the season and dinghies on Wednesday evenings. Our cadet section sails on Friday evenings, some on dinghies provided by the club. We are a recognised RYA training centre. During the year we have separate yacht and dinghy regattas, organised cruises and in recent years we have hosted the Jester Challenge and the regional heat of the Honda Rib championship. In addition to the active sailing programme we have social events throughout the year including a regular quiz. The club was started in 1932 as the Royal Albert Bridge Sailing Club and the present club building was opened by the Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor J Richards on 20 May 1986. When looking for a club to join and after visiting many clubs in Plymouth found TRSC to be one of the friendliest and most welcoming. Fortunately and thanks to our members it still is and will remain so. In terms of numbers we are a relatively small club of just over 270 members. We have 60 trot moorings in addition to space for sailing dinghies, racks for tenders and limited secure outboard motor storage. Although the trot moorings are usually full we do sometimes have vacancies. Please ask and we will do all we can to accommodate you, The club is very accessible, we are just a few minutes from the A38 and although many of our members are local we also have members from as far away as Sheffield, who contribute to club events and help with the seasonal launching and retrieving of yachts despite the distance. In addition to the organised social functions the club is available for hire at very reasonable rates and we can provide full bar and catering facilities.
