About Newquay Sailing Club

We aim to sail every Sunday during summer, usually from about 10am. During the winter months, although the weather often conspires to spoil our efforts, Sunday remains the preferred day to sail. Dry suits are recommended from November to April. Light winds and a flat sea provide opportunities for a relaxing sail, you can head for remote beaches like Mawgan Porth to avoid the crowds and pull the boat on shore and enjoy some time kicking back in the sun. Alternatively, on a flat sea with a good wind, cut through the water at an exhilarating speed, especially on a catamaran when one hull rises out of the water it feels like sailing on a knife edge. When the wind and swell pick up the experience is totally different: Boats crash over the waves, rising and falling in the peaks and troughs out in the bay or riding the swell closer to the shore (but not too close). Extreme sailing, not for the fainthearted! The golden coastline of Newquay is best viewed from the sea, when it may be seen but not heard!
