About Durham University Sailing Club

Founded in 1966 by Malcolm Dodds, Durham University Sailing Club has evolved into a vibrant community of sailors. Our members participate in a variety of sailing disciplines, including team racing, fleet racing, match racing, and yachting events across the country. We are proud to sail at Derwent Reservoir, just a 30-minute drive from Durham, and maintain a fleet of eleven Fireflies. We welcome all Durham University students, whether you’re an experienced sailor or completely new to the sport. While racing is at the heart of what we do, we also offer opportunities for casual sailing—perfect for enjoying the sunshine during our summer sessions. Not sure about sailing yet? You can still join us at our popular social events, open to all, regardless of whether you’re part of the team. And if you’re interested in getting on the water, we make it easy for you to get involved! For more information about sailing opportunities or to get in touch with our exec team, please email us.
