About Tynemouth Sailing Club

The club sails from Priors Haven from March to October. We race on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. We sail casually when conditions are good. Since winter 2019, we have also raced on Sundays in freshwater at Ladyburn Lake. It’s 40 minutes north of Newcastle, behind the Druridge Bay sand dunes. Along with our regular racing, we hold occasional open meetings. We host national or international fleets of dinghies at these events. The club is a membership society. We run various courses throughout the year and Sunday morning coaching. If you do get enthusiastic, become a member & use Spond in the group. All members of Tynemouth sailing club take turns on the safety rota. When sailing, we use a safety boat and everyone takes a turn. That means two or three times a year you’ll be doing a safety rota – still great fun & lots to learn about small power boats.
