Activities
Traeth Coch Sailing Club is based in the beautifully scenic surroundings of Red Wharf Bay, Anglesey, where to the east gentle wooded slopes sweep down almost to the blue-flag beach of Llandonna and to the west is the imposing Castell Mawr or Castle Rock, which stands guard over the entrance to the moorings. The sailing programme offers something every weekend during the season and has a mixture of one or two day cruises and one or two tide races. In the summer, there is the opportunity to sail in company with other yachts on longer cruises to destinations in the Isle of Man, Northern Ireland, Eire and the west coast of Scotland. We are a friendly sailing club of over one hundred members and were founded in 1969 with the aim of promoting boating of all kinds in Red Wharf Bay and regulating the use of the moorings. The moorings are situated around a small stream which flows to the sea on the west side of the bay and are tidal with access about two hours either side of high water. The boats are mainly bilge-keel yachts with some day boats and some motor boats, all of which are on drying moorings. The clubhouse situated near Castle Rock, is the focus of the sailing and social programme, which is at its most active between Easter and October. The bar in the clubhouse is open every Friday and Saturday evenings, 8.30 pm, or 8.0pm for functions (unless otherwise advertised) During this summer period and there is a social function about once a month. The clubhouse is also open in the winter for a number of social functions and most friday nights.
