Activities
Founded over 50 years ago and situated within the historic Lydney harbour on the banks of the stunning Severn Estuary at the foot of the Forest of Dean, Lydney Yacht Club is one of the most picturesque sailing clubs in the British Isles. Cruise down river into the Bristol Channel to visit a multitude of harbours and marina’s or take a dinghy up river past pretty villages. Moor up in one of the delightful pills and picnic on the river bank. Enjoy a varied social calendar throughout the year, both on the water and in the club grounds where you will find the truly unspoilt, centuries old club house. During the season the club has a varied programme of races, away weekends, novelty events and a down channel summer cruise week. The winter invites a variety of talks and social gatherings (which may include a few sea shanties, a yard of ale or some good old grog), and the few hardened sailors that venture out the sea gates to catch a fresh breeze and fill their sails. Learn to sail in the club Wayfarer or Mirror dinghy or crew on a yacht with one of our trusted cruiser members. Our members range from the very young to the very experienced and a lot of knowledge is shared amongst all and a very friendly bunch we are even if we do say so ourselves!
