Activities
Dorchester Sailing Club is a family-friendly club in the Thames Valley, situated just off the A415/A4074 less than half a mile from the picturesque village of Dorchester-on-Thames. With lakeside parking and plenty of space for picnics, as well as a modern clubhouse, the mature 16 hectare lake with several islands provides an ideal environment for both new and experienced sailors. We are a registered charity run by the members for the members. The club has activities throughout the year including racing and training and members are free to sail for leisure at any time. Handicap racing takes place on Sundays year-round with Wednesday evening informal racing in the summer. The club is a recognised RYA Sail Training Centre and runs a variety of courses with a particular focus on youth training but also provides friendly training for adults. The club owns a range of dinghies available for members to hire which currently includes Wayfarers, Argos, Lasers, Fevas, Toppers, Picos and Teras. For members’ boats, the Club has a large and secure boat compound with easy access to the water with two slipways and a shallow beach for safe launching. Mono-hulled boats of all classes with a PY of over 1000 and a LOA of up to 5m are welcome. New members are always welcome. Come along to the Club any Sunday morning: after about 11.00 is best to see us in action.
