Cardwell Bay Sailing Club

Cardwell Bay Sailing Club are licenced by the Crown Estates to run a mooring association and are authorised to place up to 60 moorings within a licenced area of Gourock Bay. The Club has 22 moorings, 20 are attached to two trots, Inner and outer. The Inner trot holds 12 moorings for boats up to 27 feet and the outer trot has 8 moorings for larger craft up to 10 tonnes displacement. There are 2 swinging mooring. To lease one of the trot moorings you must join Cardwell Bay Sailing Club. Whilst you do not need to be a member of the club to go on the waiting list for one of our moorings, club members on the waiting list will be given priority over non-members. The annual fee for a trot mooring is £440. This fee covers an annual maintenance inspection, any repairs or replacements to the trot mooring chain and ground tackle as well as all the attached moorings. It also covers for any ongoing repairs or replacements as necessary throughout the sailing season to maintain the mooring in a safe and secure condition for your yacht. Anybody seeking to lay a private mooring within the licenced area must first seek permission from the moorings convener and join Cardwell Bay Sailing Club. The Mooring Association is administered by the moorings convener. All mooring trot lease holders are automatically enrolled in the Mooring Association. By joining the mooring association private mooring holders agree to maintain their moorings in a serviceable condition and must as a minimum have the mooring inspected every 2 years. They are responsible for organising their own maintenance inspections and repairs and must also agree to insure their boats for a minimum of third party liability cover. The annual fee for the mooring association is £65 and this covers the crown estate fee £55 and a small administration fee of £10. All fees are agreed at our AGM usually held at the end of January each year.
