Activities
We are a friendly club where everyone is made to feel very welcome and, along with great sailing, we have an excellent social programme. We are delighted that we are also the home of the historic Beer Lugger Club, which now operates as a Racing Class under the auspices of Beer Sailing Club. Organised dinghy sailing and racing takes place on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings from Spring until the Autumn. Whilst we are always looking for experienced dinghy sailors to join our racing fleet, our prime focus is to get as many people out enjoying the sheltered waters of the bay. We run a number of fun development sailing days and ‘Sail Aways’ through the season as we seek to get social sailors more involved, and Sunday morning sailing is deliberately a bit more relaxed in order to encourage less experienced sailors to get involved. For 2026, we are also looking to introduce some formal training with RYA Dinghy and Powerboat (PB2) courses running in the summer. Lugger racing takes place on Monday evenings from early May until mid September; it is a unique and spectacular sight to see these beautiful boats launching from the beach and sailing in the bay.
