Beaver Sailing Club

Whether you want to learn to sail, join in our club racing, or develop your skills to competitive levels, Beaver is the place for you. Our high standard of family friendly club racing can help get you to where you want to be. If it’s simply fun on the water, membership gains you access to our water all year round. With two lakes, there is always room for everyone. Beaver Sailing Club is located on Southfield Reservoir, alongside the Aire and Calder Canal, near the East Yorkshire town of Snaith, with road access from the A614. The sailing water consists of two reservoirs of approximately 80 and 40 acres, with launching via ramps and jetties. The larger of the reservoirs is used for racing throughout the year. Racing takes place on Sundays, Wednesday nights in summer and Bank Holiday Mondays, and is open to all members. We also host a number of sailing events on Saturdays. For members not wishing to race, the smaller reservoir is open at all times for cruising. The lake is enclosed on all side by an easily accessible bank, making it ideal for children, beginners and more experienced sailors alike. Facilities include a new clubhouse with large changing rooms and showers, dedicated training rooms, a galley, and an extensive lounge area for relaxing. There are ample car parking spaces and a large boat park. Beaver SC is a RYA registered training school and provides courses to teach and improve sailing skills, using club boats and qualified instructors. The training school provides a number of dinghies to learn on and welcomes non-members too, on payment of a low weekly fee. Training takes places on most Saturday mornings between March and December and some weekend/mid-week courses subject to time-tabling/demand. There is a Junior Race each Sunday (excluding Frostbite series) and the annual Junior Regatta has become a hugely popular event. You’ll find a friendly welcome at Beaver Sailing Club for all ages and sailing abilities, for families, children and adults.
